Last week our state came face to face with an unfortunate reality. In Seattle, a fifteen year-old girl was sent to a hospital for an abortion and her parents were never notified.

Sadly, what was done was entirely legal. While a seventeen year-old can’t get her ears pierced or get a tattoo without parental permission, a fifteen year-old can get an abortion without the parents ever knowing it happened.

Thank God for Bart Stupak

People who follow politics can become cynical. We joke that lawmaking is the proverbial sausage factory, but we joke because that’s preferable to screaming and cursing. The frustration is real.

Rasumussen says 71% of the public disapprove of the job they are doing. If you are one of those who disapprove, you’ll be encouraged by this fact because misery loves company. But it may not matter.

Conventional wisdom says that education is underfunded. In fact, lack of funding for education is the primary reason legislators are seriously considering a state income tax. However, on Friday, the House of Representatives proved that there are some things more important than education dollars.
